The design for the 2004 International Contemporary Furniture Fair newsstand was informed in large part by budgetary and logistical constraints. Building an exhibition space in New York's Javits Center presents a multitude of challenges. For example, exhibitors must wait hours to unload building materials unless they can be carried in. Built from lightweight polystyrene foam panels, the newsstand afforded us that luxury. Usually buried in walls as insulation, the panels were taped together to form a home for six publications (Abitare, Intramuros, Wallpaper, Dwell, Domus and Frame) for the four-day convention.
