2017 Harry Allen Design
Harry Allen Design, with Steuben Glass, has created a bar set inspired by the children's nursery rhyme, Sticks and Stones, that was exhibited in a group design show, Breakable. Allen's trademark style renders a whimsical idea with realistic precision and detail. The title of his piece is a play on the title of the exhibit, Breakable, a collection of work made primarily or entirely of glass. The executive bar suite includes a "stick" tray, a "stone" decanter, and "bone" glasses. These components have been cast from real bones, sticks and stones, and combined with hand blown components. The decanter features a hand blown body, on a base of cast glass stones, with a cast stone stopper. Goblets feature hand blown bowls, set on tripods of cast chicken bones. All are displayed on a glass tray with cast wooden "stick" handles.
