ACME Studio selected Harry Allen to design a special edition pen and card holder. After considering possible design motifs, Harry decided on a design theme that would make reference to the object's function. The result, a totem of punctuation marks leading from the tip to the end of the pen, is both classic and playful. Emphasis is added to all that is written. |
Rapid 21st Century communication has ushered in a new era of punctuation - it is being omitted, butchered and re-worked to the point where it is almost unrecognizable.
It almost seems futile spending time to apply one's high school English lessons. The one bright spot, the only redeeming byproduct of this cultural meltdown, is the emoticon :). Little punctuation faces that turn the rudest of comments into a joke and add meaning to text messages and emails. Whereas the Punctuation Pen we design for ACME was an homage to the beauty of punctuation in general, our business card holder is a nod to this cute new family of punctuation. Like it or not, they are here to stay, and they seemed fitting decoration for a business card holder.
